Brewers Baseball Is Here!

The Brewers began Cactus League play on Monday, splitting their split squad games against the Cubs (W, 5-3) and Giants (L, 10-9). Shaun Marcum looked sharp starting vs the Giants, retiring the first four in a row while throwing only fastballs and changeups for the day. He threw 16 of his 17 pitches for strikes and said he "accomplished what [he] wanted to get accomplished."

Some bad blood seemed to resurface in the first inning between Prince Fielder and Barry Zito when the two exchanged words following Zito questioning the umpire on ball four. After the game they both downplayed their "conversation." Could there still be tension from the 2009 bowling pin celebration and Fielder's subsequent plunking by Zito in Spring Training 2010?

Ryan Braun shone in the win vs the Cubs with a double, a run scored, a running catch in the outfield, and an assist at the plate, preventing a sacrifice fly.

Jeff Suppan pitched three no-hit, scoreless innings vs the Brewers in their loss to the Giants. Now that he's not guaranteed a spot on the team he's finally adjusting his Spring Training routine. "I'm trying to work on pitches ... but work on pitches to get outs," he said.

In an unexpected update, the club announced that Corey Hart will be out for two weeks while recovering from a strained left oblique. He was initially expected to miss only a couple of days after hurting his side by slipping in the grass on a throw. Add him to the list of early injuries.

Zack Greinke pitches for the Brewers for the first time today vs Mark Buerhle and the White Sox. Relievers scheduled to pitch include Zack Braddock, Kameron Loe, and Mark DiFelice. The game starts at 2:05 CST. Here is the lineup:

Rickie Weeks 2B
Carlos Gomez CF
Mark Kotsay RF
Yuniesky Betancourt SS
Craig Counsell 3B
Brandon Boggs DH
Jeremy Reed LF
Erick Almonte 1B
Wil Nieves C

Zack Greinke RHP
